Over the last few weeks we have been working with the Police to get exposure of those wanted persons who are trying to avoid fronting up for the crimes thay have committed. By using others to conceal their locations they are dragging them into their network of crime. Concealing a wanted person is a crime and those who do it can expect the law to be enforced.
I would like to appeal to those who are doing this to think about what they are doing. Those who are wanted are not wanted for "J" walking they are wanted for serious crimes. By concealing these criminals you are giving them more opportunities to commit more serious crime. My appeal to you is to get in contact with Crimestoppers and provide information about the whereabouts of the person being hidden. The number is now well known 0800 555 111 or use the encrypted online message form on the website, http://www.crimestoppers-nz.org/
I have also added to the website those wanted around the world by the International Agency, Interpol. Check into the Menu item on our website "Wanted Persons" and see the sort of people we are talking about. They need to be in prison for what they have done. It is important that you don't think these people would not be in NZ. They are escaping the law in their own countries and the distance New Zealand is away from their countries increases the possibility that they won't be recognised. If you have suspicions about someone's identity provide the information to Crimestoppers anonymously. These criminals will steal identities and recreate a life for themselves. Don't let them get away with it. Don't be intimidated. Don't put your head in the sand. Provide the information anonymously to Crimestoppers if it is too hard to go to the Police.
